The Warringah Chiropractic Story
Where does one start telling the story that began over 38 years ago?
Perhaps first of all, it is easier to start by saying it was all a series of happy accidents with very little planning, as my parents had me earmarked to be a dentist, like any good Chinese child sent overseas to school and university. After a year, engaging in a science course with a major in mathematics, and considering engineering…the orientation night back in the day in Perth involved kegs of beer, blue movies and all men but 3 women…I knew that it was the wrong direction. At which point, the university careers counsellor suggested that I visit her chiropractor in Attadale. Immediately, the sense of coming home was felt…the perfect blend between the Science, a Philosophy and the Art of executing the former 2.
Anthony and I met at uni in Melbourne and on graduating, did locums and then spent 6 months travelling, both overseas and within Australia, driving from South Australia, through Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland looking for a place to set up a practice. A grocery shopping trip took me over a hill from Curl Curl, where we lived, to Dee Why and upon returning, I announced that I had found a place for our practice. Another happy accident.
Some 38 years later, I want to sincerely thank our community for making us, and subsequently, our 3 children (happy accidents?) feel so welcome. We have truly loved being of service to all who have come through our doors, and have watched small children become gorgeous adults and who are now bringing their own babies to see us.
Once again, without any definite plans, I completed a Masters in Chiropractic Science in Paediatrics after our 3rd child was born as I had witnessed so many injuries and traumas experienced in childhood and pregnancy, which could then result in chronic illness, inflammation and mobility issues. Similarly, that was my motivation when I completed further studies in Functional Neuroscience.
In the meantime, our team has grown and we are so privileged to have Dr Alana Colahan and Dr Sarah Laws working alongside us, who have their own specialities, and together with Anthony and I are continuing learning and gaining new skills.
Our team of 4 chiropractors and 5 support staff are always keen to do their best to help our practice members experience great health and seek good quality advice with many other health practitioners who we refer to and work with.
Much love from Lily and Anthony
